Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) is a term for abnormally fast heart rhythms that start in the upper chambers of the heart (atria). SVT episodes often start suddenly and can cause palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, chest discomfort, or fatigue. Some people experience anxiety during episodes due to the sudden racing heartbeat.

Atrial fibrillation is a common heart rhythm disorder where the upper chambers of the heart (atria) beat irregularly and cause and irregular and sometimes fast heartbeat. This can cause symptoms including palpitations and shortness of breath. AF also increases the risk of stroke and heart failure.

Atrial flutter is a common heart rhythm disorder where the upper chambers of the heart (atria) beat very fast in a regular, organised pattern. This can lead to symptoms such as palpitations, shortness of breath, tiredness, and dizziness. Atrial flutter increases the risk of stroke and, if untreated, can contribute to heart failure.
